![]() ![]() Now I understand that when you're a business, you need to make money. ![]() I am starting to absolutely hate Rockstar for the way they handle their games and the treatment they give to the communities who love and support these games. This brings me to the main point of this post. Like now for example I am currently playing Spider-Man Remastered on the PS5 which runs at 60fps, going between the two games would also make it a very unpleasant experience. And yes, If I kept on playing RDR2, I can imagine that I would eventually get used to the poor frame rate, but if I was to play other games. And once your eyes get used to such fast refresh rates, it can be a really difficult thing going back to 30fps. I'm also a casual PC gamer, so I very often play games at about 144 fps or more. I still remember needing a long time trying to adjust to it when the game first came out. And I don't know how to describe it, but RDR2's 30fps feels way heavier than any other game I've ever played. It feels like the game essentially lagging. And during those times, the input lag between me moving my finger, and the action of that taking place on screen is genuinely hard to watch. However RDR 2 can be a fast-paced game, like when you ride a horse or have a shootout. I am capable of playing games at 30fps, as I did play games like The Walking Dead Collection which hasn't been upgraded for PS5 yet either. But trust me, go spend a couple of months playing games in 60fps and then out of nowhere drop into the blurry, mushy and delayed world of RDR 2 on the PS5, and I promise you it will break your heart. ![]() Now a lot of people might call me spoiled or ungrateful for being so picky about RDR2's terrible 30fps state. The game runs the exact same, apart from the faster loading times which is only possible thanks to the PS5 SSD, nothing to do with Rockstar. And I was unfortunately met with absolutely ZERO differences from my experience with the PS4 slim. ![]() Now back to RDR 2, you already know I'm a huge fan, so of course, it did not take long for me to install one of my favourite games of all time onto my new console. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart can even reach the boundaries of 120fps if you have a monitor that can refresh that high (I luckily do and it has been great). Some of them like the Last of Us Part 2 for example, is a PS4 backwards compatible game, however, it was updated by ND ages ago and patched with a 60fps update as well as loading times upgrade to take full advantage of the PS5 SSD and GPU. What all of these games have in common is that they are all 60fps compatible with the PS5. I've been playing games like Far Cry 6, Miles Morales, Death Stranding Director's Cut, Battlefield, and The Last of Us Part 2. I've been absolutely loving the experience with boot times, loading times, and the glorious 60fps across a large selection of games. And yes, it is just as good as everyone says it is. Recently, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a PS5. Anyhow basically I'm a BIG fan of these wild west games. As for RDR 1, that was completed more times than I could count on PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and I even tried to do it with PS Now, but the lag was too unbearable. When it comes to RDR 2, I completed it twice on my PS4 slim, both times to 100% completion. The games have been a part of my life for about 11 years now and I've loved every minute I have spent on that game. Instead, the endgame is firmly centred on the next chapter of Grand Theft Auto.So I'm a massive fan of the Red Dead Series. It seems that despite the massive sales figures and ongoing popularity of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar doesn’t seem to be planning on bringing it to new audiences on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. On top of this comes the publishers’ confirmation that it’ll be winding down any kind of major content update for Red Dead Online. This is especially true considering the most recent community blog post from Rockstar, in which it essentially admits its laser focus on the development of Grand Theft Auto 6 and, to a lesser extent, GTA Online. With Tez2 having previously shared information on Rockstar’s games that have later turned out to be correct, it seems that the idea of Rockstar calling time on any plans to update and re-release the hit wild west game for the modern console generation is credible. It's an absolute crime to abandon this game over GTAV. Per Tez2, it doesn't look like Rockstar Games wants to ship out a new enhanced version of #RedDeadRedemption2 for next-gen consoles anytime soon. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() Price and need for an external hard drive aside, Data Rescue 4 remains your best hope for recovering data from a physically functional drive without having to send it to a dedicated outfit where technicians in clean rooms will replace drive components in clean rooms for hundreds-or thousands-of dollars.ĭata Rescue 4’s recovery functions may not be the most exciting thing to watch, but it proves that your data can be resurrected even when you thought your hard drive was dead. It takes a while to get here, but the results are usually worth it. Add in a $99 price tag for new users and a $49 upgrade price for owners of Data Rescue 3 and you can see where Data Rescue 4 still feels a bit like a premium utility for a focused set of professional users. This isn’t the worst thing in the world, but it’s an extra step before you can settle in to the task at hand. If there are any complaints to register, it’s the fact that you’ll have to back your data up to an external partition to scan and recover from your internal hard drive and might have to go shopping for a second hard drive in a pinch. I couldn’t make Data Rescue 4 crash, and the only time it felt slow was in resuming functionality after the computer was woken up from sleep. In contrast, Data Rescue 4 feels stable enough to run just about anything alongside it, and it was nice to get side work done while my 2013 Mac Pro recovered both found and reconstructed files from the drive it was working on. While Data Rescue 3 was generally stable, there were times where I felt it was best to keep the processor load light and not run too many programs alongside my data recovery effort. Yea, that's serious. If ever there was an amp to make a fan of tweeds go wobbly in the knees, this is it. Okay, lot's of mind blowing info here, but the part about writing all of the first three albums on the Bandmaster. That Bandmaster was more important than my Marshall head, because I wrote everything with it.” When I wrote the intro to ‘Women in Love,’ he was sitting there with his ears perked up, like the RCA Victor dog. My dog Monty would sit down next to me, and he dug it. It was really quiet, so my mom couldn’t hear me, but it sounded amazing. ![]() I wrote all of the early Van Halen songs for the first three albums with that amp, playing quietly in my room. “The real beauty of that amp is how many songs I wrote with it. Everyone says that you can’t do that because the transformer will blow, but the amp never blew up. I could turn everything all the way up, which is what I always did anyway, and there was this small amount of bleed that sounded exactly like when the regular output is turned all the way up, but it’s really quiet. She’d always go, ‘Why do you have to make that high crying noise?’ “If you plug the cabinet into the external speaker output instead of the regular output, it’s really quiet. In the little house in Pasadena that I grew up in, my mom always hated what she called ‘that high crying noise’-in other words, soloing. I already had the Marshall, but I had not stumbled onto the Variac thing yet, so I would use the Bandmaster through the Marshall cabinet when we gigged at smaller clubs like Gazzarri’s. do it now, before it's gone forever! Okay, on to the Bandmaster! Here's Eddie's actual Bandmaster, the one we're talking about: Here's what Eddie had to say about his 1963 Blond Bandmaster: Go ahead, take a moment to go read it right now, I won't be offended, and since Guitar Player's future is in serious question as of this writing. ![]() Sadly, that awesome magazine has went the way of the dinosaurs, but parts of the interview are still available at this site by Guitar Player Magazine. There is SO MUCH great info there! Nuts & bolts stuff about his guitars and amps, the stuff we gear heads relish. The hands-down best Eddie Van Halen interview ever conducted was done by Guitar Aficionado Magazine in their Jan/Feb 2014 issue. Okay, that's a stretch, right? This however, is not: Eddie's most important amp at the time of the first THREE Van Halen albums was NOT a Marshall at all, nope, it was a blond Fender Bandmaster! Holy crap. We all know that Jim Marshall basically copied a Fender Bassman when he had his first amp designed, so in that way Eddie's famed Marshall amps are. However, as a SERIOUS fan of Leo Fender, this last gem I uncovered may just be the coolest of them all. Cool, but while researching that I stumbled upon some seriously interesting tidbits about his first Frankenstein guitar, which of course led to another blog. ![]() It started with a simple request to do a blog on Eddie Van Halen's use of a Variac. And although it takes a left turn near the end that some viewers might not like, you should at least give it credit for refusing to get complacent. ![]() It's not a masterpiece, not by a long shot, but it does demonstrate a refreshing willingness to embrace the unknown, the implied, the mysterious. I'll stop here because I don't want to oversell the movie. What on earth, or in the heavens, is going on? In the other house!! There are mysterious notes left on the front door numbered photographs of the principal characters (one seemingly taken that very day) accusations that a certain character is not really that character wary or secretive expressions on the faces of people you thought you could trust. The first vertigo-inducing moment comes when Hugh returns from an expedition to the only fully lighted house in the neighborhood and reports that he peeked through the windows and saw them-the members of that very group-having dinner. Also on hand is Mike ( Nicholas Brendon of "Buffy") whose greatest performance might be as a guy who isn't depressed and irritated that nobody remembers that he starred on "Roswell." There's a pagan cleric type named Beth ( Elizabeth Gracen), and a tall, volatile, bearded guy named Hugh ( Hugo Armstrong) who keeps trying to contact a friend who seems to have inside knowledge of all the strange goings-on (disrupted cell phone service, power outages and the like). Em shows up at the party with her boyfriend Kevin ( Maury Sterling of “Homeland”) who proceeds to add tension to the evening by offering up an anecdote involving his ex-girlfriend Laurie ( Lauren Maher), who's also a guest. This is an ensemble movie, but its closest thing to a protagonist is Em (Emily Foxler, who has a great reactive face), a dancer whose career has suffered an unspecified setback. ![]() What's being threatened in "Coherence" is who they are, or what they think they are not just the integrity of their bodies (though that's at risk, too) but their identities. The characters are frightened by what they don't know, then by the implications of what they've been able to figure out. ![]() (Spoilers start in the next paragraph.) And it's genuinely more of a horror film than a suspense or "terror" film because, while there's some violence, the source of unease is philosophical. This is a less-is-more science fiction-horror tale, indebted to the original "The Twilight Zone" (particularly "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street") as well Luis Bunuel's " The Exterminating Angel," as well as certain recent science fiction indies that I won't name here because I did, you'd immediately deduce the film's first big twist. Once "Coherence" delves into its premise, the viewer is bound to come down with a bad case of the creeps. Even on a moonless night in a forest, your eyes adjust.Īmazingly, though, none of the movie's technical or artistic shortcomings prove to be deal breakers. That the comet has allegedly wrought havoc with electricity only partly excuses this. When the characters venture outdoors, it's hard to tell what's going on because you can barely see the actors. A lot of the action in this night-set film is confined to the interior of the house. It's shot with multiple video cameras, often wildly, and while much of the overlapping dialogue is comprehensible, some sinks into audio muck. "Coherence" was produced on a shoestring. ![]() ![]() ![]() In this DLC, you will command the multinational Army Group South in its bid to deliver a crippling blow to the Soviet war machine, while securing oil for Germany’s ongoing conquests. The park would always occasionally have people around to answer things, but this seemed a lot more common. Basically it meant that throughout the day there were animal caretakers at the different exhibits, generally providing some info, showing off some of the animals, and answering questions. Luckily the crowds were small enough that it didn’t seem to be an issue.Īlong with the regular shows, the park added a bunch of “Caregiver talks” to the lineup. The stadiums were encouraging social distancing only allowing guests in every 4th row, and I did see employees ask people to move. It looked like all of the parks normal animal shows were in operation, including the dolphin, tiger, and seal/sea lion shows. Some distancing markers in the theater, reminders to wear masks, and explanation as to why the caregivers don’t wear masks (Tigers don’t like ’em). The Odin’s Temple of the Tiger show that has been at the park for years was just like always. I did see one person with a map, so maybe at Guest Services you could request one? One of the downsides I found was that there didn’t seem to be any maps (which makes sense for sanitary reasons), so if you weren’t familiar with the park it might be a little trickier to find everything. Preferred Parking Reservations at Discovery Kingdom or Hurricane Harbor : r/sixflags Preferred Parking Reservations at Discovery Kingdom or Hurricane Harbor I am thinking about going to either Hurricane Harbor or Discovery Kingdom this weekend. Animal Exhibits, Shows, and Interaction.Ībout 2/3 of Discovery Kingdom is open to guests for the Marine World Experience, basically providing access to all the outdoor animal exhibits. Masks are required for all guests, and a convenient booth was setup before the temperature check selling face masks for folks who needed them. The Thursday I went the park was pretty empty all day, which no doubt helped, but it seemed like they had a good set-up for smooth entry. If you’re a pass holder entry is free (you enter your the number on your pass), otherwise you get a ticket when making your reservations.Įntry was a breeze, with contact-less temperature and bag checks, and no waits anywhere. There were plenty of open time slots, although note the park is only open Fridays-Sundays now. You can make them on the same Six Fl ags reservations page as with the other parks, and it seemed really easy. If you have a ball on your first ride, make another reservation as soon as you get off or later in the day.Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is requiring reservations for the experience like the Six Flags Parks that are fully open. You can book more than one reservation time for the same ride.If you are unsure, book the rides with the longest wait times first so you won't be shut out at the end of the day. Prioritize and use THE FLASH Pass for the coasters and other rides that you most want to experience first. In that case, Six Flags may issue a refund (or it may not check with the park for its policy). The downside is that the weather or other factors may make the lines relatively short and the passes unnecessary. The upside is that you will be guaranteed passes, even if you show up later in the day. Reserve the passes in advance online at the park's website. The danger with this strategy is that the park has a limited supply of LoQueue devices and could sell out of them, especially in the middle of a busy day. Wait until you get into the park and see some of the posted wait times before you decide whether to spend the extra money for the passes.Set your sights on three or four, and be prepared to wait in lines. You could leave in the middle of the day when the crowds are the heaviest, enjoy a nice meal outside the park, and return later in the day when the lines thin out again. Arrive at park opening before most of the crowds and go immediately to the most popular rides. If you don't mind getting wet or hot (heed your inner mom and don't forget to apply sunscreen and keep yourself hydrated), the parks will generally operate rides in inclement weather unless the rain is excessive or there is lightning forecast. Nothing keeps crowds away and lines short more than crummy weather. Go on a day when it is threatening rain or will be very hot.For instance, a park might run only one train on a coaster that has three trains, thereby still making the lines long. ![]() The problem with this strategy is that Six Flags might cut back operations on its rides during slower days. Avoid weekends, go early or late in the season, or otherwise try to zag when everybody else is zigging. Plan to visit on a day when it is less likely to be crowded. ![]() ![]() ![]() Try a medium red brown like 5R, which works especially well with medium and darker skin tones.
