How about the affordability of this versatile gadget? Apple slicer prices range from $5 to $20, and well-made models will last for years. Many have raised sections that help push the wedges out of the blade once slicing is complete. Most bases double as a blade cover for storage as well as a cutting surface. Not all apple slicers come with bases, but this is definitely a handy feature. Some apple slicer handles are coated in rubber or silicone for a slip-resistant grip that is even more secure. Others have openings for even greater force and stability. Some handles are solid with curved edges for gripping. There is a handle on both sides of the circle because this device is intended to be used with two hands. ![]() The handle of an apple slicer is almost as important as the blade, as it provides leverage and keeps you safe while you slice. Typically, slicers have 8, 10, 12, or 16 segments. The more there are, the more slices you’ll have - and the thinner those slices will be. Number of segmentsĪpple slicers have varying numbers of segments. Much like a knife, the blade portion is sharp on the side that comes into contact with the apple and dull on the other. The segments create the slices the circle removes the core. Most commonly made of stainless steel or hardened aluminum, the blade is round and is constructed with divided segments situated around a center circle. This is a key component of an apple slicer when it comes to dividing the fruit into wedge-like pieces. The structure of any apple slicer is straightforward, but here is a closer look at the features that make this slicing tool so convenient. Wash and dry your apple slicer so it's ready to use when you need it again. Step six: Carefully pick away any pieces of apple that remain on the blade.Step five: Remove the slicer, discard the core, and enjoy. ![]() Step four: Place your hands on the handles of the slicer and press down firmly until the slicer goes all the way through the apple.Place the stem portion directly in the center of the core cutter for even results. Step three: Place your apple slicer on the top of the apple. If you choose a slicer that doesn't include a base, use a sturdy plate or cutting board instead. Step two: Place the apple with stem side up on a firm, stable surface. However, you can end up with less-than-perfect results, including uneven slices, if you don't follow a few easy steps. Versatile tool: You can use an apple slicer to cut other types of fruits and vegetables, too.Īs mentioned, slicing an apple with an apple slicer is easy. That’s because the leverage this cutting tool provides is just as important as the blade. However, it’s not as sharp as a knife blade. Reasonably safe to use: The cutting side of the blade of an apple slicer is sharp enough to cut through an apple.Separates seeds and cores: Not only will you get even wedges when you slide an apple slicer over the fruit, but the core and seeds will also be separated from the edible parts. It’s also useful for baking desserts like tarts and pies. This is important when it comes to youngsters who like to make sure their treat is shared equally. Uniformity is possible: When used correctly, an apple slicer can produce even slices.Fast and efficient: Where it would take multiple passes with a knife to cut a single apple into slices, an apple slicer can do it in one simple movement.Put the slicer in place, push it over the apple, and just like that, you have multiple ready-to-eat slices. ![]()

This brings me to the main point of this post. Like now for example I am currently playing Spider-Man Remastered on the PS5 which runs at 60fps, going between the two games would also make it a very unpleasant experience. And yes, If I kept on playing RDR2, I can imagine that I would eventually get used to the poor frame rate, but if I was to play other games. And once your eyes get used to such fast refresh rates, it can be a really difficult thing going back to 30fps. I'm also a casual PC gamer, so I very often play games at about 144 fps or more. I still remember needing a long time trying to adjust to it when the game first came out. And I don't know how to describe it, but RDR2's 30fps feels way heavier than any other game I've ever played. It feels like the game essentially lagging. And during those times, the input lag between me moving my finger, and the action of that taking place on screen is genuinely hard to watch. However RDR 2 can be a fast-paced game, like when you ride a horse or have a shootout. I am capable of playing games at 30fps, as I did play games like The Walking Dead Collection which hasn't been upgraded for PS5 yet either. But trust me, go spend a couple of months playing games in 60fps and then out of nowhere drop into the blurry, mushy and delayed world of RDR 2 on the PS5, and I promise you it will break your heart. ![]() Now a lot of people might call me spoiled or ungrateful for being so picky about RDR2's terrible 30fps state. The game runs the exact same, apart from the faster loading times which is only possible thanks to the PS5 SSD, nothing to do with Rockstar. And I was unfortunately met with absolutely ZERO differences from my experience with the PS4 slim. ![]() Now back to RDR 2, you already know I'm a huge fan, so of course, it did not take long for me to install one of my favourite games of all time onto my new console. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart can even reach the boundaries of 120fps if you have a monitor that can refresh that high (I luckily do and it has been great). Some of them like the Last of Us Part 2 for example, is a PS4 backwards compatible game, however, it was updated by ND ages ago and patched with a 60fps update as well as loading times upgrade to take full advantage of the PS5 SSD and GPU. What all of these games have in common is that they are all 60fps compatible with the PS5. I've been playing games like Far Cry 6, Miles Morales, Death Stranding Director's Cut, Battlefield, and The Last of Us Part 2. I've been absolutely loving the experience with boot times, loading times, and the glorious 60fps across a large selection of games. And yes, it is just as good as everyone says it is. Recently, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a PS5. Anyhow basically I'm a BIG fan of these wild west games. As for RDR 1, that was completed more times than I could count on PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and I even tried to do it with PS Now, but the lag was too unbearable. When it comes to RDR 2, I completed it twice on my PS4 slim, both times to 100% completion. The games have been a part of my life for about 11 years now and I've loved every minute I have spent on that game. Instead, the endgame is firmly centred on the next chapter of Grand Theft Auto.So I'm a massive fan of the Red Dead Series. It seems that despite the massive sales figures and ongoing popularity of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar doesn’t seem to be planning on bringing it to new audiences on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. On top of this comes the publishers’ confirmation that it’ll be winding down any kind of major content update for Red Dead Online. This is especially true considering the most recent community blog post from Rockstar, in which it essentially admits its laser focus on the development of Grand Theft Auto 6 and, to a lesser extent, GTA Online. With Tez2 having previously shared information on Rockstar’s games that have later turned out to be correct, it seems that the idea of Rockstar calling time on any plans to update and re-release the hit wild west game for the modern console generation is credible. It's an absolute crime to abandon this game over GTAV. Per Tez2, it doesn't look like Rockstar Games wants to ship out a new enhanced version of #RedDeadRedemption2 for next-gen consoles anytime soon. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Price and need for an external hard drive aside, Data Rescue 4 remains your best hope for recovering data from a physically functional drive without having to send it to a dedicated outfit where technicians in clean rooms will replace drive components in clean rooms for hundreds-or thousands-of dollars.ĭata Rescue 4’s recovery functions may not be the most exciting thing to watch, but it proves that your data can be resurrected even when you thought your hard drive was dead. Em shows up at the party with her boyfriend Kevin ( Maury Sterling of “Homeland”) who proceeds to add tension to the evening by offering up an anecdote involving his ex-girlfriend Laurie ( Lauren Maher), who's also a guest. This is an ensemble movie, but its closest thing to a protagonist is Em (Emily Foxler, who has a great reactive face), a dancer whose career has suffered an unspecified setback. ![]() What's being threatened in "Coherence" is who they are, or what they think they are not just the integrity of their bodies (though that's at risk, too) but their identities. The characters are frightened by what they don't know, then by the implications of what they've been able to figure out. ![]() (Spoilers start in the next paragraph.) And it's genuinely more of a horror film than a suspense or "terror" film because, while there's some violence, the source of unease is philosophical. This is a less-is-more science fiction-horror tale, indebted to the original "The Twilight Zone" (particularly "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street") as well Luis Bunuel's " The Exterminating Angel," as well as certain recent science fiction indies that I won't name here because I did, you'd immediately deduce the film's first big twist. Once "Coherence" delves into its premise, the viewer is bound to come down with a bad case of the creeps. Even on a moonless night in a forest, your eyes adjust.Īmazingly, though, none of the movie's technical or artistic shortcomings prove to be deal breakers. That the comet has allegedly wrought havoc with electricity only partly excuses this. When the characters venture outdoors, it's hard to tell what's going on because you can barely see the actors. A lot of the action in this night-set film is confined to the interior of the house. It's shot with multiple video cameras, often wildly, and while much of the overlapping dialogue is comprehensible, some sinks into audio muck. "Coherence" was produced on a shoestring. ![]() |
